An Early Saturday Morning Journey To Southdale Shopping Center in Edina MN









Per the website http://www.simon.com/mall/?id=1249 : Southdale Center is the nation’s first enclosed regional shopping center. The center, which opened in 1956, is anchored by Macy’s, Herberger's, JCPenney and Marshalls. Southdale also has more than 120 specialty stores, including Aveda, Michael Kors, Coach, H & M, J. Crew, Banana Republic, LOFT and The Apple Store, as well as a state-of-the-art 16-screen AMC Theatre. Southdale Center boasts a top restaurant lineup that includes The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Ruby Tuesday and California Pizza Kitchen.

  1. I know it was an early weekend morning, and you took photos not directly showing any storefronts, but could Southdale look more empty? Other than the few people at the food court, not a whole lot going on.

    Did you head across the street to Big Bowl for lunch?

  2. I'm not too surprised the mall was empty though. Aside from that little coffee shop, none of the store were open yet. Sadly, no stop at Big Bowl. I was doing mad multitasking that day and this was my first stop. I do love me some Big Bowl though. HA!
